Here at Social Lite, we believe that the key to success is maintaining a healthy balance in our lives and we encourage each other to take time away from work once in a while to refresh. One of our account managers, Angie, recently ventured off in search of sun and relaxation and this is what she took away from her travels.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
When I set off to travel Nicaragua with two of my best friends, I had no idea what to expect. I knew I was in for a good time but could never have predicted the experiences I had and will cherish those moments for the rest of my life. From the people we met and the things we did, everything felt like it was slowly falling together, like pieces from a puzzle.
The aspect I love about travelling the most is when you catch yourself reflecting on life. The moments where you look out into the unfamiliar landscape and question everything you have been doing leading up to that point. Travel invigorates people and gives new breath to your life without even understanding why.
It’s interesting to become aware of the people or things you think about when you aren’t distracted with your everyday routine. You start to realize the people who mean the most to you in life and the things you want to achieve, and very slowly, you start to make sense of why you are on this earth.
I believe it’s therapeutic to travel and it should be encouraged to anyone and everyone. You open yourself up to a new world and are able to come home with fresh ideas, thoughts and feelings.
Not all who wander are lost, and everyone should have an opportunity to discover something new about themselves and this thing called life.
